Local Democrats hold open house at new headquarters

ASHEBORO — The Randolph County Democratic Party has announced the grand opening of its new headquarters, located at 114 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.

Folks are invited to stop by Friday, June 15, from 5-8:30 p.m. to celebrate and take a tour of the new headquarters. There will be refreshments available and some local candidates will be in attendance, with commitments from Ryan Watts, Sixth District Congressional candidate, and Bill McCaskill, running for N.C. District 26.

Democratic headquarters had been at 118 N. Church St. for several years, but more recently had been at 803 W. Salisbury St., Asheboro.

“Not many people knew we were there because we were so far off the main drag uptown,” said Diane Hubbard, third vice chair of the party. “We are really glad to be back in the middle of things. Our lease is for one year, but we are hoping to be in this new HQ for many years to come.

“It is an excellent location and the building is large enough to house our HQ and any coordinated campaign that might need a base of operations.”

Hubbard said plans are in the offing for upcoming events, including a Volunteer Appreciation Potluck on July 24 and the 10th Annual Defending Democracy Blue Jeans Gala on Aug. 10.

Regular hours of operation for the Democratic headquarters will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday, other times by appointment. For information or to volunteer with the Randolph County Democratic Party, email RandolphDem@gmail.com or call 336-629-9003 and leave a message.
