MEPs debate Polish judicial changes

Dutch conservative Peter van Dalen says the UK’s exit from the EU will deprive the union of a “counterweight” to the “German-French axis”.

He calls for Mark Rutte to “take up the sceptre from the British” after Brexit, to offer a “sober” vision in response to pushes for greater federalism.

Guy Verhofstadt, from the Liberal ALDE group, says the EU needs “something different”.
