Perrysburg Twp, Ohio (WTVG) U.S Secretary of Education was in Northwest Ohio Monday. Betsy Devos observed how Penta Career Center partners with organizations to make sure students of all ages can be prepared for success. The secretarytook a tour of the Correctional Treatment Facility where Penta offers GED education for inmates. She later toured Penta Career Center to see several labs where adults can earn certificates and gain employment.
Secretary Devos conducted a roundtable discussion as well but the media was not ivited to attend. She also declined media interviews.
A handful of chanting protesters were also outside of Penta.
Ohio House Representative Teresa Fedor was among the handful of protestors. The group says they’re upset that Devos did not choose a public school to visit, but a charter school.
They believe she shows a lack of respect for public education.
